The holy month of Ramadan started about 2 weeks ago. It is the most superior month in the Islamic calendar. Before I talk about the recipe, I would like to wish the entire Muslim nation a blessed and happy Ramadan, and may Allah accept everyone’s prayers.
During the holy month of Ramadan we fast from sunrise to sunset, then we have Iftar to break our fast. Or you might just call it breakfast. In Morocco, we usually have a pretty big feast for Iftar. Milkshakes and smoothies are always part of the feast. Since this is my first post during the holy month of Ramadan, I decided to start by sharing this delicious and nutritious milkshake.
This berry, spinach and avocado milkshake is a great drink to have for breakfast, after a workout or in my case during the holy month of Ramadan for Iftar. This drink is packed with nutrients, once you drink it you will feel an immediate boost of energy.
The sweetness from the strawberries and bananas will camouflage the taste of the spinach and avocado. In fact, if you were served this milkshake in an opaque cup, you would never guess that it contains the latter two.
I think that the bananas gives the milkshake enough sweetness, but if you like your beverages very sweet, go ahead and add some honey or maple syrup.
Spinach, avocados and blueberries are some of the top superfoods that should be included on your daily diet. So why not combine them in a milkshake and get some of your important nutrients in a glass. So gather your ingredients and make yourself this delicious milkshake. I promise, you’ll fall in love !!
P.S.: You can make this berry, spinach and avocado milkshake ahead of time, or the night before and keep it in the fridge. It will still taste the same.
Prep time: 5 minutes
1 cup of baby spinach
1/2 cup of fresh blueberries
1 cup of slices strawberries
1/2 an avocado peeled and sliced
1 medium banana
1 cup of vanilla soy milk, vanilla almond milk or your favorite kind of milk
Blueberries for garnish (optional)
- 1 cup of baby spinach

- In a blender combine spinach, blueberries, strawberries, avocado, banana and milk. Blend on high until smooth.
- Pour into glasses, garnish with blueberries (optional) and serve.
