Cinnamon-Sugar Cookies

  cinnamon-sugar cookies These cinnamon-sugar cookies make an easy and quick dessert to serve with tea or coffee. They also make a great holiday give-away. You can easily double the recipe and make twice as much to pass them around to friends and family.

In addition to how delicious these cuties will turn out, they will also make your house smell great when in the oven, which is an added bonus. They’re super easy to make, so don’t shy away from having the kids help you make them. It will be a fun activity for them, especially during the holidays.

It has been a while since I posted on Tajoon. So I thought I’d post this holiday recipe for a come back. I hope you’ll give it a try and my home to yours,  Happy Holidays!! 🙂

Prep time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 12 minutes

Makes: about 40 cookies

Ingredients:

2 cups of all purpose flour
A dash of salt
1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon
1 cup (2 sticks) of butter, softened
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

Preheat an oven to 350° F (180° C).

cinnamon-sugar cookies 1 Sift together the flour, salt and cinnamon and set aside. cinnamon-sugar cookies 3 In another bowl, using an electric stand mixer with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla. Save the egg white for later. cinnamon-sugar cookies 4 Gradually mix in the flour mixture to form a thick, stiff dough. cinnamon-sugar cookies 6 Shape the dough into small balls about 1″ (3 cm) in diameter. Place the balls on greased baking sheets (you can line the pans with parchment paper if you like). cinnamon-sugar cookies 9 Flatten them by pressing with a fork in a criss-cross pattern. Brush the tops lightly with the preserved egg white. cinnamon-sugar cookies 10 Bake the cookies 8 to 9 minutes, or until barely colored for a chewy cookie; bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden for a crispy cookie. cinnamon-sugar cookies 11 Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a minute before transferring them to a rack to cool completely.
They will be gooey when you take them out of the oven, but once they cool off they will crisp up on the outside and remain soft on the inside. Which makes the perfect cookie. cinnamon-sugar cookies 12 Enjoy the cinnamon-sugar cookies with tea or coffee.
