During the summer, people often make or buy smoothies as a refreshing drink. However, smoothies can be loaded with sugar and calories resulting in unwanted weight gain. So the best way to make a smoothy is use frozen sweet fruit in to avoid adding any sugar.
I made this strawberry banana smoothie the other day after Amir, baby Arian and I came back from swim team practice. And Amir, the very picky eater, loved it. I couldn’t believe it 🙂 I have made countless smoothies over the years, and he has always refused to even try a sip. So when he drunk most of this strawberry banana smoothie I am sharing with you today, I was so happy and felt a little hopeful. Maybe he will start eating healthy food someday.
For this smoothie I am using frozen strawberries so I won’t have to use ice. Whenever organic strawberries are on sale, I buy a bunch, wash them, cut them up and freeze them to use later on smoothies. If you don’t have frozen strawberries, then add 1 cup of ice in order to get a nice chilled smoothie. I personally don’t like using ice in my drinks. I prefer to freeze fruit that are in season and use them in smoothies whenever I crave some.
I hope you will get to try this recipe and enjoy it!
